Sorry to Crush Your Hopes and Dreams

All this snow had me thinking about plans for the summer. I'll have a 6-month-old in April, and we'll be able to do lots of fun things. There's a pool just two blocks away from us, and as Jake has the car most days, I'm always on the lookout for entertainment within walking distance. I had wonderful images in my head about walking to the pool and splashing around with Joseph, just like I'd seen Melinda do with her kids in their apartment pool in Bountiful.

Alas, it is not to be.

I just checked the website for the pool (actually, it's a private swim club). In order to be at their highest level of membership, I'd have to pay over $1200 this year and $642 each subsequent year. At the next level (weekdays only), I'd just have to pay the annual fee of $642, and at the lowest level (weekdays only from 4-8 pm), it's still over $400.

Inflatable kiddie pool it is, Joseph. I hope we can keep the geese away from you.

Dance

My London buddy Jessica posted this on her blog today, and I was totally enamored with it. The choreographer, Kori Wakamatsu, was the dance teacher at Riverton when I was teaching, and I got to work with her on a silly faculty piece for the dance concert that year. She did amazing things with her girls in the dance company. The artist is Ryan Woodward, an animation professor at BYU. Get more information and check out the behind-the-scenes video.

Potter Puppet Pals with Joseph

If you haven't seen Potter Puppet Pals on YouTube, check it out.

I started singing "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape" to Joseph a few days ago, and he smiles and laughs. I must not be screwing up this parenting thing too bad if he's having such a great reaction to Harry Potter. :)
